Dr.  Barbara McIntosh

Dr. McIntosh is board-certified in Rheumatology and Internal Medicine. She is a graduate of Temple University School of Medicine. Following her rheumatology training she became a full-time faculty of Michigan State University School of Human Medicine and assistant program director of the internal medicine residency at Hurley Medical Center. As an academic physician she taught medical students and residents, held a rheumatology practice, participated in clinical research and was very actively involved in curriculum development. She was eventually named Associate Professor of medicine and program director. She is the recipient of several awards for her teaching skills and leadership. She has participated in several radio broadcasts and community presentations.

 Dr. McIntosh is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, the largest internal medicine society in the United States. She is also a member of the American College of Rheumatology.  

After serving 18 years as an academic and clinical professor, she opened a full-time rheumatology practice Michigan Rheumatology Group, PC, with her partner Dr. Karrar.

Dr.  Ali Karrar

Dr. Ali Karrar attended the University of Khartoum in Sudan where he received his Masters Degree in Internal Medicine. He completed a fellowship in Rheumatology from Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center/Rush University, Chicago, Illinois (1998-2000).  He also completed Rheumatology training at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center (1992-1996).

Dr. Karrar is board certified in both Rheumatology and Internal Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American College of Rheumatology and the Royal College Physicians (United Kingdom). He has been in private practice since 2000.
